I joined Christmas Tree Lane because it’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started volunteering back when I was in elementary school, and from that very first year, I knew I wanted to help keep this tradition alive. Over the years I’ve done just about everything—from climbing trees to hang lights to helping organize events—and eventually I was honored to serve as the youngest Vice President of the organization.

2nd VP, Membership

“I have been going to Christmas Tree Lane for most of my adult life. It has always brought joy during the holidays to drive up and down the street seeing all the beautiful lights. But it wasn’t until a few years ago, when I moved into the neighborhood, that I realized all that hard work was done by volunteers. I knew instantly that I wanted to be apart of it and help out in whatever way I can. It’s been a great honor to be apart of Christmas Tree Lane and work with all the amazing volunteers who enjoy lighting up the lane, and lighting up people lives.”

For me, Christmas Tree Lane has always been a family tradition. Growing up, we would visit the Balian Mansion and then make our way to the Lane, taking in all the lights and excitement. I remember going to the lighting ceremony back when it was a small gathering, and it’s been amazing to watch it grow into the incredible community event it is today.

This has always been such a special part of my life, and I’m grateful to now be part of the board, helping this tradition continue for future generations. It truly is a wonderful event, and I’m proud to play a role in keeping the magic alive.

Len Schaustal

Sponsorship Director

“I lived in Altadena in the mid 1990’s, spending much of my time building my career and business. When I moved to a neighboring city – it hit me… I BELONGED in Altadena. It is my home – The people, the diversity, the trees and mountains, and the small town feel all in a greater metropolitan area of many millions.

Happy to be ‘home’, I am excited to be part of this amazing group of volunteers that give so much to the community around them with nothing expected in return. From working on the Lane, to helping to raise awareness and funds for much needed care and maintenance of this historic treasure, I am again, home, and honored to be part of this organization.”

Mikayla Arevalo

Marketing & Communications Director

I’ve been coming to Christmas Tree Lane for as long as I can remember, and this cherished event holds a truly special place in my heart. For me, it’s the way I begin the holiday season—a tradition that brings warmth, joy, and a sense of togetherness year after year.

Altadena is my community, and I’m committed to serving it in any way I can. Supporting Christmas Tree Lane is one of the ways I give back, because I love this event and am dedicated to ensuring it continues for everyone in our community to enjoy.

Aaron Carew

Winter Fest Director

My wife is from Altadena, so naturally she knew all about Christmas Tree Lane. When we bought our house on “The Lane,” I, on the other hand, missed the memo that our new home was on one of the most historic holiday streets in the country.

After all this community has endured during the Eaton Fire, our commitment to Altadena has only deepened. This community has a way of turning neighbors into family, and I’m proud to help keep this tradition bright for the next generation.

And as a lifelong admirer of Christmas Vacation, I’m happy to report that joining the board is still the safer way to honor the holiday spirit than stapling 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights to my roof.

Stuart Brawley

Stage Director

I have been a resident of Altadena since 2015 is deeply committed to serving the community I call home. As a longtime musician and performer, I’ve built a successful career in music while also dedicating myself to nonprofit leadership and community engagement.

In my professional role as Senior Development Officer at Pasadena Waldorf School, I lead fundraising, donor relations, and supports strategic community initiatives. I also serve as a Trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, supporting the organization’s charitable and community-focused mission.

I’m passionate about preserving local history and strengthening community connections. I am excited to be on the Board of Directors of Christmas Tree Lane Association and I look forward to contribute to the stewardship of one of Altadena’s most treasured landmarks and traditions.

I’m excited to be part of such a special tradition. I deeply believe in the power of community and the joy that comes from giving back. Being part of such a cherished holiday tradition has been truly magical, and I wanted to help preserve and enhance that spirit for others. The positive influence this event has on both the community and the families it brings together is inspiring, and I’m honored to contribute to creating lasting memories for all who participate.

Board Director

I was born in Altadena, just a few blocks away from Christmas Tree Lane, and I have been going to the tree lighting since I was a baby. One of my earliest memories was ringing bells and singing Jingle Bells during the lane lighting. We drove up and down the lane nearly every night each year during the month of December, and this was the beginning of my love for lights and decorations. After the devastating Eaton Fire that took my first home, I wanted to give back to the Altadena community, so I started volunteering on the lane. Everyone was so welcoming and I kept coming back weekend after weekend. I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful group of people and I will keep coming back.
